About the Owner

Mario Calito is the founder of Solterra Landscaping, a Los Angeles based landscape design and installation company. He is currently a Landscape Architecture student at UCLA, where he continues to develop a strong design foundation rooted in thoughtful planning and execution.

Mario holds a degree in Neuroscience from Boston University and previously worked in a hospital cancer research setting. While his academic path began in science, his connection to landscaping started much earlier. From as young as ten years old, he spent weekends gardening alongside his father, gaining hands-on experience and an appreciation for how outdoor spaces are built, maintained, and enjoyed over time.

That early exposure, combined with formal education and field experience, shapes Mario’s approach today. Through Solterra Landscaping, he creates outdoor environments that feel intentional, functional, and enduring, with careful attention to the Southern California climate and lifestyle.
